Fani-Kayode Redeployed as Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to South Africa

Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, says President Bola Tinubu has approved his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to South Africa following a redeployment from Germany.

Fani-Kayode disclosed this in a post on his X handle, noting that the decision followed his formal request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressing preference for South Africa over Germany.

He explained that his request was considered and approved by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, before receiving final presidential approval.

According to him, the adjustment also involved a swap arrangement with Senator Sam Enang, who was initially posted to South Africa but opted for Germany.

The former minister dismissed reports claiming that Germany rejected his appointment, describing them as false and malicious, and said he had instructed his lawyers to take legal action.

Fani-Kayode expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the Foreign Affairs Ministry, adding that he looks forward to serving Nigeria in South Africa.
