Imo APC Backs NWC Directives, Endorses Uzodimma

The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says it will abide by decisions of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on the mode of primaries for upcoming elections.

The party’s spokesperson in the state, Dr. Jones Onwuasoanya, told The PUNCH that although the state chapter may make recommendations, the final decision rests with the NWC.

He said the party remains united and has not adopted any opposition to consensus arrangements, adding that Governor Hope Uzodimma is being widely supported as the consensus candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District.

Onwuasoanya noted that over 150 aspirants have already purchased nomination forms across various elective positions in the state, describing the party’s internal process as competitive but peaceful.

He further stated that the APC in Imo remains confident of consolidating its electoral strength ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political analysts, however, suggest that emerging interests in some senatorial districts may shape the outcome of party primaries, even as consultations continue within the party.
