MainPower DisCo Urges Staff, Customers on Electricity Safety

The management of MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited has called on its staff and customers to maintain strict adherence to electricity safety, warning that electricity does not forgive mistakes.

The Managing Director, Dr. Ernest Mupwaya, gave the charge while declaring the company’s Safety Week open, stressing the need for discipline and commitment to a strong safety culture.

Dr. Mupwaya urged workers and customers to prioritise safe practices, look out for one another, and speak up when safety standards are compromised, noting that no operational target is worth the loss of life.

He emphasised that safety must be a daily responsibility, adding that every task carried out should focus not only on performance but also on protecting lives within the workplace and host communities.

Also speaking, the Head of Health, Safety and Environment, Dr. Francis Iwu, said the company joined the global community in marking the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, with emphasis on promoting a healthy work environment.

He outlined activities lined up for the Safety Week to include training, safety inspections, public awareness campaigns, customer engagement and school outreach programmes, aimed at strengthening safety consciousness among staff and the public.
