NDC Women’s Wing Advocates Greater Female Participation In Leadership

The National Women’s Organiser of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress, Dr Hanna Louisa Bissiw, has reiterated the need for increased female participation in governance and leadership.

Dr Bissiw was represented by former Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North, Honourable Betty Krosbi Mensah, at a women’s empowerment and mentorship training programme organised by Lead Afrique International in Accra.

The event brought together women from across Ghana for mentorship, leadership development, and political capacity-building aimed at strengthening women’s participation in decision-making and public service.

Speaking during a panel discussion, Honourable Betty Krosbi Mensah shared her experiences in politics and encouraged women to build confidence, prepare adequately, and actively pursue leadership positions capable of influencing national development.

She stressed that effective governance requires the active and equal participation of both men and women.

According to her, “Women must position themselves for leadership by acquiring the right skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to contribute meaningfully to national development.”

Participants and speakers at the programme also underscored the importance of mentorship, institutional support, and inclusive policies in addressing barriers limiting women’s advancement in politics and governance.

The programme concluded with a renewed call for greater investment in women’s leadership development, with organisers maintaining that empowered women remain central to building stronger communities and a stronger nation.
