Ohanaeze Urges Ndigbo to Register for PVCs

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged eligible Igbo people across Nigeria to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Enugu, the organisation’s National Publicity Secretary, Ezechi Chukwu, said voter registration and participation in the democratic process were fundamental civic responsibilities and constitutional rights of every Nigerian citizen.

Mr Chukwu said democracy could only thrive through active public participation in elections, urging Igbo people not to treat the exercise with indifference.

He called on youths, women, professionals, traders, students and community leaders to take advantage of the registration process and secure their PVCs.

According to him, political inclusion, equity, justice and fair representation would be strengthened only when citizens actively engage in the democratic process.

Mr Chukwu said Ndigbo must continue to play a visible and strategic role in shaping Nigeria’s political future.

He added that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, under its President-General, John Mbata, remained committed to promoting peace, unity, good governance, justice and equity, as well as protecting the political and socio-economic interests of Igbo people within a united Nigeria.

The group also appealed to Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that the voter registration exercise remained transparent, accessible and free from discrimination or unnecessary bottlenecks across the country.
