The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Bitrus Giwa, has felicitated residents of Enugu State and Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, CP Giwa noted that despite challenges over the years, the gains of democracy remain significant and continue to strengthen national development and unity.
He called on citizens to uphold democratic values including peace, tolerance and civic responsibility, stressing the need for collective efforts to deepen the dividends of democracy across the state and the country.
Giwa also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to democratic policing, noting that intelligence-led operations, proactive security strategies and community engagement have been strengthened to ensure sustained peace, safety and effective crime prevention in Enugu State.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding, and to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation, assuring that the Command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property.
He wished residents a peaceful and memorable 2026 Democracy Day celebration.
