Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah
The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has called for calm following reports of a missing child at the Salaga Government Hospital, assuring residents that security agencies are investigating the matter.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 10, Hon. Ibrahimah described the incident as disturbing and said she was deeply concerned by reports surrounding the alleged disappearance of the child.
According to the lawmaker, the incident was reported to have occurred around midday, while a formal complaint was lodged at the Salaga Police Station at approximately 2:00 p.m.
She disclosed that information made available to her by the Ghana Police Service in Salaga indicated that two midwives had been arrested in connection with the case and were currently assisting investigators.
The suspects, she said, remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before a court as part of the ongoing legal process.
Hon. Ibrahimah, who described herself as both a mother and the elected representative of the people of Salaga South, said she shares in the anxiety, pain and concern being experienced by the affected family and residents of the constituency.
"The safety and wellbeing of every child remains paramount to me, and this incident has understandably caused great distress within our community," she stated.
The Member of Parliament assured the family and the general public that she is closely monitoring developments and engaging relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and the pursuit of justice.
She also expressed confidence in the professionalism of the Ghana Police Service and its ability to handle the matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
Hon. Ibrahimah further appealed to residents to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could undermine ongoing investigations.
"Let us allow the security agencies and relevant institutions the space to carry out their work while we continue to support the affected family during this difficult period," she urged.
The lawmaker concluded by extending her thoughts and prayers to the family and expressed hope for a swift and positive resolution of the matter.
Investigations into the reported disappearance of the child are ongoing.
