2027: David Mark Reacts to Defection of Peter Obi, Kwankwaso from ADC

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has reacted to the defection of Peter Obi and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, saying their exit from the party will ultimately strengthen its resolve ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with the forum of ADC former and serving federal lawmakers, Mark acknowledged the political weight of the duo’s departure but maintained that the party remains focused and determined.

According to him, the development will compel the party to intensify its mobilisation efforts and strengthen its internal structure.

“No doubt, the exit of Obi and Kwankwaso has its impact, but it will spur us to work harder,” he said.

The former President of the Senate expressed confidence that despite current challenges, the ADC would field credible candidates capable of winning elections in 2027, adding that the party’s difficulties would ultimately refine its political strength.

It will be recalled that Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso reportedly left the ADC on Sunday for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), citing internal divisions and ongoing court cases within the party.
